Fishermen may have to compete with local osprey, otter and loons, who often fish side-by-side with anglers on Vidette's narrow waters and near the small islands. The lake cannot be described as a "hot" fishery, although the setting makes it unique. A total of 16 waterways, such as Fatox Lake, are available to fishermen who don't mind a hike. The resort maintains a number of canoes and row boats for use by its clients, but a belly boat is an asset. Trout reputed to weigh up to eight lbs. can be found in some of these "secret" high-country lakes.
The upper area of the Kukwaus Plateau consists of aspen-dotted grasslands.
